You will need to set up your device to use CUPS in order to print via its network interface. We have successfully set up CUPS with the procedure below:

Notes
  • You can determine the IP address of your device by printing a status sheet. For instructions on how to do this, please see the manual that came with your device.
  • For the purposes of this FAQ we assume the IP address of the printer is "192.168.1.3".
  • The following setup procedure applies to CUPS version 1.3.9, other versions may vary.

Procedure
  1. Using a browser, connect to the CUPS Server (http://localhost:631) and click [Home].
    • If adding a new printer, skip to Step 2.
    • To modify an existing printer, first click the [Manage Printers] button, then click the [Modify Printer] button corresponding to the printer you wish to modify and skip to Step 4.
  2. Click [Add Printer].
  3. Fill in the "Name" field, and click [Continue].
  4. Select [LPD/LPR Host or Printer] from the "Device" pop-up menu and click [Continue].
  5. In the "Device URI" field, enter the IP address of the printer and click [Continue]. The URI should look something like the example below.
    • Example:
      lpd://192.168.1.3/
  6. Select the PPD file by using one of the following methods:
    • For "Make", select "Epson", and click [Continue]. Then select the name of your device from the "Model" list and click [Add Printer].
    • OR
    • Click the [Browse...] button to select the PPD file for your device manually.
    • (See the driver manual for more information on PPD files.)
