Can not correctly print when using USB backend of CUPS v1.5.3 or later

When printing using USB backend of CUPS v1.5.3 or later, the following problems may occur

  • Printed image is broken.
  • Incomprehensible characters are printed over many pages.

A cause is for printing data missing because the USB backend of CUPS v1.5.3 communicates in violation of the USB specification.

[Workaround]

  • After the printer registration to CUPS, execute the following command
  • lpadmin -p [Printer Name registered to CUPS] -o usb-no-reattach-default=true

  • Use network instead of USB
